Seven years ago...

Seven years ago... I remember not being able to sleep because I was so excited to marry my best friend that next day. I got up early and could barely contain my enthusiasm. I couldn't wait for the moment we would walk down the isle at St. Matthew's Catholic Church as husband and wife for the first time. Nothing else mattered. I loved him and still do. These seven years have flown by and I am so happy with how our lives have turned out. We have an angel in heaven and a beautiful little girl. I can't wait to see what the future will hold. I love you Dominic!

Our pool! Love it. It fits all three of us perfectly and has room for more. Want to come play?

Mena-ism: Bad Breath

This morning hubby was giving me a hug and Mena wanted a hug too. She climbed on top of me and hugged me so tight. I said, "Mena, I have bad breath. I need to brush my teeth." She responds, "It's just me mommy!" As in, I don't care if your breath stinks I love you and I want a hug, don't worry! It was so sweet.

Mena-ism:How old are you?

Conversation had around the table tonight.
Mom: How old are you Mena?
Mena: I'm 20!
Mom: You're 20! No you're 2.
Mena: I'm not 2 anymore. I'm 20. It's been a long day!

Mena-ism: Restaurant talk

We were at Leons Family restaurant yesterday for dinner. Mena had just recieved her plate of Grilled Chese Sandwich and French fries and it was really hot. I looked at the sandwich and said, "Mena, it might be hot" (she grabs a fry and says oh so confidently), "It might be yummy!" and taking a bite smiles and says, "it is!" What a riot!

Happy Fathers Day!

Happy Fathers Day to the best Daddy. I love you so much sweetie. You are amazing with Mena and I couldn't ask for anyone better to raise a family with.

WOW! What A Weekend!

Friday morning we left for Lansing, Mi (an hour and a half away) for a Catholic homeschooling conference that we were vendors for. It was such a wonderful weekend trip. We dropped off Philomena at my husbands parents house and they watched her overnight. It was great! This was our first night alone since she was born. So needed! She did great, and went to bed wonderfully for naps and night. I wonder what their trick was! She got to go with her Cia Cia (aunt in polish) to pick out two bunnies from the pet store for Dzia Dzia (Grandpa in polish) as a Fathers Day present. She thought that was great and she tells me stories about the bunnies all the time now. Anyway, the conference was wonderful. It was awesome seeing all these amazing parents raising 3, 5,7,10 kids and homeschooling! They were all so well behaved and loved the faith. Before going, I had been nervous about starting to home school Mena because I don't feel quite smart enough. This conference really helped me remember that you learn as you go and how many resources there really are. I am really looking forward to homeschooling and can't wait to start with Mena. I found the most fantastic Catholic Montessori method curriculum that I am going to use for Mena. I bought an awesome book from this table about how to make Montessori materials out of household items. I can't wait to start! I was thinking about forming a group of moms in the area who would like to get together and make Montessori materials with me. I think that would be so fun and very productive!!! The Catholic Montessori website is called www.jodyshands-onlearning.com Check it out if you have a chance. Very cool stuff and I can't speak highly enough about the creator, mother of ten, Franciscan University of Steubenville grad!!! That was just Friday and Saturday. Fathers Day will be a separate post.

Mena-ism: Move over!

In the middle of last night Mena came in to our bed and laid down. She was tossing and turning and then loudly said, "This is not comfy!" I was laying there thinking, it's not comfy for me either! Ha. Ha. Ha!

Mena-isms

We were at church and Mena kept playing at the end of the pew. I whispered for her to come back (repeatedly) she says to me in an audible voice..."Mommy, why you talk to me so much!!!"

Daddy can frequently be heard saying "so what's the deal?" in regards to whats going on. Mena turns to dad out of the blue the other day and says, "Dad, what's your deal?" Hillarious!

That's all for now.

Look what I won!

Last month I won this vinyl lettering from Word on the Wall. I love how easy it was to put on and it looks great in Mena's room. See for yourself!!!

I can't believe my luck!!!!

I went to a Mom 2 Mom sale today and found the most awesome thing ever! I have been wanting an ERGO for a long time now and I can't believe my luck. I found one for $15!!!!!! Wow! They retail for over $100! I totally bought it right away and was pretty much in shock that I found it. Then I found another steal...Melissa and Doug large musical instrument set for $2! There are like 10 instruments in it and it is in good condition! Awesome. I also found some new preschool and kindergarten learning books, numbers, letters...$3! I got Mena an awesome learning toy, I have no idea what it's called, but you can match things and there are a ton of different cards in it. I also found a cute dress for her and a pair of pj's and a sweater! All for about $25!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe my luck! Someone must have been watching out for me!!!!
Thanks a lot Lord!!!

Wordless Wednesday!

I totally look forward to getting the mail everyday. I know I'm weird but I just love it. SOOOOOO, my hubby insisted I get a picture with this mailman at the Truck event we took Mena to today. It was quite embarrassing! He thought it was so funny and he made me post it on here for all to see. Crazy!

Honk, Honk! Beep, Beep!

Today we took a trip to the nearby library parking lot to see some big trucks and cars and have a chance to check them out from the inside! What a cool experience for little Mena (and Mom and Dad too)! There was a street sweeper, road truck that fixes stop lights, dump truck, fire truck, mail truck, and police car all available for climbing up into and pretending to drive. So much fun. Mena loved sitting on daddy's lap and beeping the horns. She pretended to talk on the walkie talkie things and even got some candy while in the mail truck. They also had someone there to paint faces. Mena wouldn't have any thing to do with it so after waiting in line for 10 minutes I thought I better get my hand painted and Mena may change her mind. This didn't change her mind one bit. Oh well. I have a nice sun on my hand to show for it! Here are a few pictures from the day...

New Baby Mad Lib

New Baby Mad Lib!

(This is for a contest entry on Comfort Joy Designs)
(Hubby provided the answers!)

Holy Crap! gasped New Daddy. It was 4am and baby was awake for the 7th time today. New Mommy had been frankly washing the dishes but rushed to check on New Baby. "No, no," said New Daddy, who had been relaxing by coin collecting. "I'm always glittery to help with the baby. I'll go." New Mommy was sharp, since this was only the 17.5 time that New Daddy had offered to help. In fact, New Daddy was more inclined to snack on green beans, while sitting on the arm chair, watching Three's Company.New Mommy knew that she should swimmingly accept, because New Daddy might not offer again!
